New week and we’re back at it. Read the latest batch of links.

Will the new kickoff rule changes make the play safer?

The Athletic talks to coaches from around college football, getting their thoughts. The views are mixed. Special teams coaches of course not thrilled, as it’s their specialty. Falcons named top service academy, again.

For the 7th straight season, the Air Force Academy finished above the other service academy by a descent margin. They finished 68th nationally, while Navy was next closest at 74th. Looks like they did best in men’s gymnastics, ice hockey, and... wait for it... rifles.

Baseball in the future for the Rams?

Spoiler: Probably not. But it’s worth talking about, especially now that Boise State has revived theirs, maybe there is hope. But they dropped baseball in 1992, due to financial reasons. That’s a main reason why school don’t have the sport, as well as Title IX compliance. Per the NCAA reports, baseball schools lose an average of $1 million per year. Another interesting tidbit, CSU has 6 men’s sports and 10 women’s sports.

MWC West comes in at 15th. But maybe they are unselling the Bulldogs a bit.
