I hope everyone had a nice break for the 4th and the week is wrapping up nicely. College football keeps getting closer, so I am getting pretty antsy. Let’s go.
Wyoming's defense is one of the best in college football, and obviously even if they weren’t, this would still be troubling news. I am sure more news will come out about this soon, but a thing we should all keep an eye on. Maluia started every game last season and was poised to have a big year at linebacker this year.
Nevada has been on a great recruiting streak, and we have Nevada as a high Mountain West team that could turn some heads this season. Gangi still taking snaps is a big help for this offense. A lot of great home games this season too, should be a good year.
The Rams obviously lose some swagger without Michael Gallup and Nick Stevens, but with a few great transfers getting to play this year I think they could have a sneaky good year. Especially Preston Williams, who sat out a year due to transfer rules when he transferred from Tennessee, but at 6-4 and crazy fast, I like his chances to fill Gallup’s shoes. K.J. Carta-Samuels also presumably under center could potentially let this Rams team not miss much of a beat from last years offense.
Tim Duryea is headed to Boise State as an assistant to the Men’s Basketball Team. Duryea was an assistant first and then head coach at Utah State. In his three seasons as head coach they failed to make the NCAA tournament, so he was fired after this past season. Duryea has been involved in college basketball since 1988 where he was an assistant at Colorado State, so he should bring experience.
