No lack of news today as the Mountain West’s media days are underway in Las Vegas. Players and coaches from the Mountain Division participated in interviews on Tuesday, and members from the West Division are up today.

Division winners chosen at media days

Boise State was unanimously chosen to repeat as Mountain Division champions this year. The West Division vote was a bit tighter as Fresno State edged out San Diego State, garnering 16 of the 22 first place votes. Wyoming and Colorado State round out the top three in the Mountain Division, while UNLV took third behind San Diego State in the West.

Preseason all-conference teams selected

Members of the media also voted on the all-conference selections for the upcoming season. Boise State led the way once again with 8 members on the all-conference team. Boise had the most offensive selections with four, and Wyoming tied with Boise for the most on the defense with three. Brett Rypien was chosen as offensive player of the year, and Andrew Wingard was voted the defensive player of the year.

CSU star receiver still suspended

Mike Bobo revealed that transfer receiver, and former 5-star recruit, Preston Williams is still suspended following an assault charge last fall. Bobo did not provide any additional details, so it’s unclear whether he’ll be available this fall.
