This hasn’t been a good week for the New Mexico Lobo sporting world. Last week it was reported that men’s soccer, women’s beach volleyball, and men’s and women’s skiing were being cut due to budget cuts and Title IX compliance. Adding to that, there will now be a reduction in scholarships for men’s cross country and track and field. They list the number of reductions, which is pretty significant.
This isn’t just Madden or NCAA Football (RIP) type of stuff. In some, according to the article, they don’t even get into actual plays for 50 or 60 pages. Former Boise State coach Chris Petersen gets a mention in here for all the plays and terminology he aimed to install in a single day during fall camp.
In yet another pre-season pick by yet another website, they pick Boise State to be the top team in the Mountain West. They highlight that they are one of, if not the, top Group of 5 team, and how they get Fresno State, SDSU, and Utah State all at home. For a dark horse pick, they go with UNLV.
The Star Advertiser sits down with Coach Rolovich and gets his thoughts on returning to the run-and-shoot offense. They also break down each position and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the team. They have a lot of interesting pieces at QB and their wideouts and slotbacks.
