Media Days week is here!!! This is the start of the end of the off-season, otherwise known as pre-season. We got some links to get you ready for football.
It’s a reunion of sorts. You see the coaches and players in interviews again for the first time since spring ball, and even though not much has changed since then, you still eat up every word. You get their thoughts on all the big off-season discussion topics, and if you’re lucky, get some jokes and good quotes out of them as well. The PAC12 one looks really fun!
In what the conference called their highest honor, Boise State OL Mason Hampton and Air Force swimmer and diver Jinan Andrews were named the male and female scholar athletes of the year. Hampton was an accounting major and had a GPA of 3.97. Andrews had a GPA of 3.72 in systems electrical engineering.
Chris Murray, who covers Nevada sports, looks at seven big topics going into Media Days. They include the new TV deal, bowl game futures, and Nick Rolovich.
Athlon Sports does their best to predict which quarterbacks are poised to make a big jump forward this season. Three Mountain West Conference QBs make the list. Jordan Love (#25), Armani Rogers (#20), and Ty Gangi (#16) make the list.
The MWC set a record this past semester with 1000 student athletes on the all-academic conference team, surpassing their previous record of 993. To be eligible, players must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be a starter or significant contributor on their team.
