The sun came up today and some Mountain Conference links were posted. Today is mainly wrapping up the NBA draft. There was one player overjoyed, one surely disappointed, and one happy to catch on. Read all about it.
Hutchison become highest drafted Bronco hooper ever.
In what was a long-rumored pre-draft promise, Chandler was taken by the Bulls (my hometown team) with the 22nd overall pick. He also becomes the first ever Boise State 1st round basketball pick. I’ll let BJ take is from here as he was all over the coverage, being there for the draft and all.
Mid-major Madness takes a look at how he can help the Bulls.
They take a look at what Hutch can bring to the table in the NBA, at least initially. They expect him to play the wing and maybe spend some time as a small-4. His best trait is to get to the rim and they project that to continue. They like his playmaking ability and expect him to become a solid (and versatile) defender in the league. Also, they highlight the need for him to improve his jump shot.
McCoy goes undrafted.
A one-and-done player at UNLV, McCoy’s week didn’t go as planned. His name wasn’t called in either of the two rounds. This article highlights the defensive struggles and lack of a jump shot, despite averaging a double double in his one season. All hope is not lost, as he signed a contract with the Bucks and will be in their summer league. Continuing to develop in the G-league would be ideal for him as this point.
Wolf Pack’s Stephens will be on Magic summer league team.
Another big MWC player, Kendall Stephens’ NBA dreams are still alive as well. Chris Murray reports will join the Magic to compete on their summer league team. He set the MWC single season record for 3 pointers made. In case you haven’t noticed, that’s a coveted NBA skill.
Boise State also made history in a different way.
HISTORY. MADE.
