Finally Friday.

NCAA Basketball: Boise State at Wyoming Troy Babbitt-USA TODAY Sports

As one of my college friends used to say, happy freakin’ Friday! This will complete week one of what is considered the longest part of the off-season (post-NFL draft). Though news will be a bit more scarce, there are still some links to be had.

Utah State continues their big scheduling week.

They made a news splash earlier in the week with their announced game against Alabama, where they will receive the 3rd largest payout of all-time. This announcement of extending the BYU series through 2022 is a more competitive matchup on paper and continues an in-state rivalry.

Speaking of scheduling, the MWC/MVC Showdown released matchups.

Here are the 10 games between the conferences over a span 5 days. The marquee matchup here is the rematch of Nevada and Loyola-Chicago.

San Diego State football fills their last coaching vacancy.

The Aztecs have had one of the largest turnovers in the Mountain West Conference this offseason. There have been many comings and goings since the end of the season, but they have finalized their staff with the elevation of Demetrius Sumler. He was a GA and now will coach the cornerbacks.

And a way too early 2018 top 25, but features the MWC.

These things means as much or as little as you want to make of them. The one thing that is probably the most telling is probably the amount of hype teams are getting. This is the USA Today post-spring pre-season poll. It lists Boise State at #14 (top Group of 5) and San Diego State at #20.
