MWC Recruiting Roundup 5-14-18

75+ offers this week, plus Broncos get two 4-star commits.

NCAA Football: Las Vegas Bowl-Boise State vs Oregon Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Spring Evaluation Period continues to be a productive time of year for the Mountain West Conference teams. Coaching staffs are out recruiting in full force, visitings at least 39 schools (that we know of). Even more impressive was the 79 total offers that were handed out by MWC teams in the past week. UNLV led the way with 14 offers all by themselves, and Nevada and Colorado State were right behind them with 10 and 9 respectively. However, it was Boise State who far and away had the best week. Though they only handed out 5 offers, they hauled in 2 commitments from consensus 4 stars, one of which is the second highest rated player to ever commit to a MWC school and the highest rated QB.

Commitment Spotlight

QB Hank Bachmeier (Boise State)

“Ultimately my decision came down to comfort for me. Boise State felt the most comfortable to me. It just felt right, and to me it’s a family atmosphere. Throughout their recruitment of me, they have built a solid relationship through consistent communication. Especially Coach Hill and Coach Harsin. I think that they can develop me and make me better. I love their offensive system and I think it fits me well. The coaching staff like my ability to throw from the pocket but also my athleticism and that I can run a bit. Before my senior season, I’m just trying to work hard in the weight room, in the classroom, and on the field. To those who may question choosing a Group of Five school, I would say that I believe Boise State is one of the best programs in the country. They develop players just as much as any other school. I am preparing to graduate early, but haven’t confirmed if that’s the plan to enroll early. As for future commits, yessir the Broncos have some firepower cooking.” (4 star ATH Casey Kline committed two days after Hank said that.)

STUD Casey Kline (Boise State)

“I had a good talk with my parents on Friday, after that I knew it was time to commit. It’s fair to say that Boise State has been the leader for a while now. I loved the city and campus and everything in general. They were the team recruiting me the hardest. I also know that they develop LB’s very well, and I’ll be playing the STUD position for them. My area recruiter was Spencer Danielson, which works out perfectly because he coaches the STUDs. I also have a good relationship with Coach Avalos and Coach Harsin. Comparing BSU to some of my other offers, Boise is a winner. They’ve beaten multiple PAC 12/Big 12 schools and have a very high winning percentage over the past number of years. And being from a small town I like the chip on their shoulder that they play with. It’s my type of play for sure. As far as enrolling early, no one has ever left school early at my high school so we are going to have to try to get them to allow it. Not for sure yet if I’ll be graduating at semester. For recruiting guys, yes Alec, Hank, and myself will all try to get other guys to join this movement.”
