Welcome to the Tuesday edition of your daily links. Today we are putting a focus on Spring Ball updates. Either scrimmages that took place to wrap up spring practices, or else some updates from practices.
Colorado State has their 2nd scrimmage
Though it was a mix of drills with few live periods, the Rams got some scrimmage work in nonetheless. Sounds like they mainly focused on situational work, two-min drills, special teams scenarios, and 2-point conversions. Reading between the lines, it sounds like the offense may be ahead of the defense at this point but unclear.
Hawaii continues to move through spring ball looking for play-makers.
The Rainbow Warriors press on through spring and one numberless player is making waves. WR Devan Stubblefield is working as hard as he can to be a go-to player-maker come fall, and he hopes to win a single-digit jersey while doing it. He looks to be a very nice fit in the run and shoot offense. After two torn ACLs, the 5th year player is focused on making a big impact.
Boise State looks good on both sides of the ball as they conclude spring.
Boise State dominated on both offense and defense, but one team won the game 42-7. How can that be? They divided up 1st team vs 2nd team, so the second team offense only managed one score off the first team defense, while the #1 offense was locked and loaded. This could mean that the Bronco’s 2nd units aren’t that good or that their 1st units are very good. Beat writers (including this one) seem to be thinking it’s the latter.
A look in to Nevada’s Coach Lockwood and his spring task.
Lockwood will begin his 30th year as a coach, but his first with the Wolf Pack. He’s been all around the country with a multitude of teams and will now be entrusted with the three safeties in Nevada’s 3-3-5 scheme.
