Building off of last weekend, there are a flurry of recruiting updates as high schoolers flocked to school’s Junior Days and took in some Spring Games. At least 28 offers were handed out and at least 14 visits were tracked here, although it could be assumed more of each occurred. Fresno State takes home the honors of the featured picture this week, due to their offers and visits. MWCConnection has caught up with a few recruits who made recent visits, as highlighted below.
Visit Recap
JUCO TE/H-back Jordan Greenlee (Nevada)
“The trip to Nevada was great. I met the entire coaching staff and they spent time talking with my Dad as well. I talked a lot with Coach Norvell, Coach Chang, Coach White, Coach McClure and some the guys on the team. Lots of energy all around. Coach Ault was there as well and they going to do more Pistol packages with Air Raid, so they need me at TE/H. I gave all my transcripts to Vai Taua and will submit to the school as well. I will continue do my part in the classroom and weight room as things progress.”
OT Michael Lynn (Boise State)
“Definitely the culture there in Boise stood out, that’s the most unique thing there. All the coaches players and people preach about “Blue Collar” and I love that aspect of it. Since football is such a blue collar sport and they understand that up there. Whatever you put in is what you’ll get out. I couldn’t stay for the game due to my flight since so we did a photo shoot instead then I had to leave for my flight. But the community they had was insane, everyone showed out for the spring game and I loved it. I talked mostly with Coach Bedell but i also talked to Coach Harsin. They really liked my film and we mostly talked about what it would be like playing up there and where I’d fit in if I ended up there.”
LB Aka Kapono (UNLV last week and Hawaii)
“The unofficial visit was great. It was nice to have that 1 on 1 conversation with Coach Travis Burkett who’s the Hawaii recruit coach & Coach Eric Brown the OLB coach. They really like the way I play & that I’m aggressive, long and lengthy. I’m also excited to see how that new Football Facility is going to turn out. Like any other school you got the football field, the weight room, the locker room etc etc. But for school, I think what caught my eyes was the Hospitality Building. UNLV is rank #1 in Hospitality & Hotel Management. It something I think I might get myself into the future. They are highly interested in me at the moment.”
“Well Hawaii is my home. Playing in front of family would be nice too. My dad played for Hawaii in 1999-2001 for Coach June Jones. Like I said it would be nice to be a legacy player there. I watched practice for a bit, it was awesome, but the weather right now is pretty bad, lots of heavy rains.”
DE Ben Schneider (Wyoming and Colorado State)
“I really really enjoyed Wyoming. They had some top tier facilities and really liked the blue collar attitude they had there. I enjoyed talking with Coach AJ Cooper and am hoping I could get offered at camp. He talked about the importance of my performance at camp. They like speed at the Edge so they like me playing DE. I think my aggression and effort really set me apart from other players. I always try to make the big hit or chase down a player in open field.”
“I really liked CSU. I liked the way Coach Gibson ran meetings and coached on the field. They practice with a sense of urgency and were always doing something which I really liked.”
