Cross another hire off the list.

Utah State officially announced what had been speculated for a few days: Craig Smith will be the new men’s basketball coach of the program.

Smith comes to USU from South Dakota, where he spent the past four years. He also has Mountain West Conference ties, as he was an assistant at Colorado State from 20008-2012. In total, Smith has coaches for 22 years, 7 of which have been as a head coach. He brings a winning culture and a new vision and energy to the program.

This was one of three MWC head coaching vacancies and the second one filled. Fresno State is still currently in their coaching search and Colorado State hired Niko Medved last week.

Here is the full press release the school sent out this morning.
