What To Watch For
Fresno State Is Becoming The Mountain West’s Darkhorse
Since a hard-fought ten point loss to Nevada to end the month of January, Fresno State has begun the month of February as a totally revamped team. The Bulldogs have pulled off five straight wins over the likes of Wyoming, San Diego State, San Jose State, Colorado State and UNLV to rise into the conference’s third spot, with just one more Mountain West loss in the bank than Boise State. And while it’s doubtful that they’ll catch Nevada, who has a chance to sure up the league title situation in the coming days, they are positioning themselves into a similar situation to as head coach Rodney Terry’s 2015-2016 team, who stole the league’s automatic bid in the post-season tournament. This last-chance run by the Bulldogs may not mean too much for the regular season, but it seems as though Fresno State is emerging as the league’s dark-horse as the post-season begins.
