Welcome to the last MWC Recruiting Roundup before the December Signing Day. This was the last weekend for schools to get recruits in for official visits. Like the past few weeks, there was tons of news and action going on. By our count, there were 16 new offers, 16 official visits, and 24 new commitments. Boise State, Nevada, and SJSU hauled in three new commits each, but UNLV came away with four, so they’ll grab the banner this week.
Commitment Spotlight
DB Kieran Clark (Nevada)
“After careful consideration of which program would give me the best opportunities; I chose to cut the recruitment process short and chose to hone my talents at Nevada. I believe the coaching staff will do just that and more. I feel blessed...ready to take the next step in life. The recruiting staff and I built a great relationship and our visions for my development were aligned. I’m truly humbled to be apart of such a great program! From day one they treated my parents and I like family, taking interest in my goals both academically and athletically. I felt the overall experience was special. I will major in Political Science and Minor Criminal Justice. Not really sure the specifics but they informed me I would play an intricate role in an already hungry defense. I feel I can play anywhere on this defense. I tackle well enough to play safety and I’m fast enough to guard any receiver. The next four years will be fun.”
JUCO DB Cortez Davis (Hawaii)
“Because it was out of my comfort zone, I felt like out of all of my offers they were the school that would push me the most to become a complete player, athlete, and man. I fell in love with the strong family oriented atmosphere as well. Coach Rolo and Abe talked about life and not just football. I could tell they liked me as a person and not just a athlete. With Coach Abe’s experience in the NFL I trust his techniques and coaching style because he knows what it takes to get to the next level. He has a resume of players playing in the NFL right now to speak for its self. They want me at corner and Nickel-back. I think I’m a good fit back there due to my speed, length, and physicality. I’ll be on campus for the spring semester.”
WR Dev Jennings (Wyoming)
“My biggest factors in choosing Wyoming were how genuine the coaches, staff, and players were. They made me feel welcomed and important. I feel this is somewhere I can grow and succeed academically and athletically. Knowing the coaches were genuine was a gut feeling. After talking to other players on the team and listening to their experiences at Wyoming, my feelings were confirmed. They took the time to answer all and any questions my family and I had. They want me to play both inside and outside WR. I have very good hands and will go up and get the ball if I have too to make the catch. I’ll be enrolling in January.”
DL Eliel Ehimare (UNLV)
“Well, the biggest reason for my commitment is that the staff cared about me. Coach Samuel, Coach Skip, and Coach Sanchez really have my best interest at heart and I think we all have a common goal in winning and showcasing my talent. From the training staff, players, coaches, and front office guys—all the way to the head coach, they really want me to succeed and the environment is perfect for me to do just that. I can’t put my finger on it but I know they’re all experienced in one way or another. I think these experiences and things they’ve seen over their time as coaches has built a base of knowledge they can draw from and teach me more about the game and about life. Coach Samuel especially looks like he really has a heart for my situation and wants to help me.
Visit Recap
LB Seth Robinson (UNLV)
“I really enjoyed getting a chance to meet the entire coaching staff, getting a tour of the Fertitta Football Complex, as well as getting the opportunity to spend some quality time with Coach Sanchez, and meeting the rest of the recruiting class. I feel we bonded greatly. We all went to go hang out and eat together and we all related to certain things. Usually talked about football, where we came from, who we know, what positions we play, etc. We talked about my major at UNLV and how him and the coaching staff’s main goal is to get their guys a degree before they leave college. I fit into their defense as a pass rush/cover hybrid. There’ll be formations where I’ll be up on the line of scrimmage and other plays where I may play off. It’s all situational and with my size and body structure, I fit that role nicely.”
DB Xavier Goldsmith (Colorado State)
“I really liked just being able to spend time with the coaches and future and current players. I‘m enrolling early and in the spring they’ll be using me at nickel so I need to learn the playbook and be ready to work. I’m really excited it’ll be a big adjustment but just got to work.”
