MWC basketball preview
With the college basketball season kicking off yesterday, now is the perfect time to read up on what to expect in the Mountain West this season. With an expected national title contender leading the way, it should be an exciting season.
Weekly football power rankings
Utah State and Fresno State, the two remaining undefeated teams in conference, take the top two spots in the weekly rankings. Fresno State faces preseason favorite Boise State this week in a rematch of last season’s conference championship. Utah State should pick up another easy win against San Jose State this week.
Wyoming offense improving under Sean Chambers
True freshman Sean Chambers has the offense rolling in his first 2 starts at quarterback despite only throwing the ball 18 times during those 2 games. Coach Bohl estimated Chambers has only learned 25 percent of the playbook, so expect him to get more chances as he gains experience. The running game has been dominant since Chambers took over, and they’ll continue to improve when the passing game is fully implemented.
Armani Rogers status uncertain
The reeling Rebels are hoping to have starting quarterback Armani Rogers back soon. Rogers has been out since he suffered a toe injury in September, and UNLV has lost 6 straight games. Head coach Tony Sanchez doubts he'll play this week against San Diego State as he'd like to have a full week of practice before returning. Max Gilliam will continue to start at quarterback in his place.
