No matter how you look at it, Colorado State failed to meet expectations this year. They rarely looked competitive and managed to win just 3 games all season. There are a number of questions that must be answered prior to the 2019 season. Will their first-year coordinators remain after shaky debuts? Will Colin Hill regain the starting quarterback position, or will star transfer Patrick O’Brien assume the role? Will Preston Williams, one of the lone bright spots this year, head for the draft? Read a bit more about each question.
The Cowboys have never played in three straight bowl games in its history. They clinched bowl eligibility for the third straight season with a win against New Mexico, but now they’ll have to wait to find out if a bowl selects them. A bowl game seemed like an impossible reality on October 20th when Wyoming sat at 2-6. An impressive four-game winning has them in position to make history.
The attendance at the two most recent installments in the rivalry were about 6,000 and 10,000 people, respectively, below the historical average. It’s unclear whether the cause is specific to the game or whether it’s just indicative of decreasing attendance nationwide, but the two schools need to figure it out.
Take a look at some statistics to determine who has been the most successful Mountain West team since it took its current form in 2013. Unsurprisingly, Boise State and San Diego State are at the top as they lead the league in win/loss record and league titles. Fresno State also fared well as they led in division titles.
