After another New Mexico punt, Wyoming got the ball and was forced to punt. However, the Cowboys botched the punt, giving the Lobos their best field position on the day. With the ball deep in Cowboys territory, New Mexico could not get a touchdown, settling for a field goal.

That would be the only scoring highlight for the Lobos.
In the 2nd half, Wyoming would get a field goal on their second drive. A couple of drives later, the Cowboys took a commanding lead with another touchdown, doing so on a rare option play from Wyoming.

A New Mexico interception, Wyoming fumble, a couple of punts, and New Mexico turning the ball over on downs occurred before Wyoming ran out the clock on this one.
Wyoming 31, New Mexico 3.
Thoughts
Wyoming absolutely embarrassed New Mexico in this game. The Cowboys out-gained the Lobos, 407 yards to 83 yards. New Mexico would only gain 6 first downs in the game. Mind you, this was Senior Day for New Mexico. That was the lowest offensive output from New Mexico since TCU held New Mexico to 85 yards in 2011.
Also, Wyoming looks like the definition of a middle of the pack team. Wyoming is 6-6 on the season, going 4-4 in conference. For a coach thought to be on the hot seat, Bob Davie is ending the season on a very low note at New Mexico.
For Wyoming, Rejoice!! The Cowboys got to 6-6 and are bowl eligible.

The Cowboys will have to wait until Sunday to see if a bowl invite come their way. If not, it was still a great end to the season. Wyoming finished the season winning 4 games in a row to get to 6-6. Also, Andrew Wingard tied the MWC record for career tackles late in the 4th quarter of this one.

Even if the Cowboys miss a bowl game, this was a nice way to end the season for a team that was 2-6 just a little over a month ago.
