Looking at MWC action from the weekend.

NCAA Football: Utah State at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to the Monday following the end of the college football regular season. Although many teams around the country are finished playing, there are still lots of games left over the next six weeks. Conference championships, bowl games and the playoffs are all still on the way. In the meantime, read about some MWC teams.

Cowboys are bowl eligible.

Now the question becomes: will they land in a bowl? They appear to be “on the bubble” according to those on the internet who follow those things closely. Regardless, congrats to the Wyoming football team on bouncing back to 6 wins after they could’ve easily folded up after a rough start.

Broncos clinch the Mountain division, earn spot in MWC championship.

For the second time in three weeks, Boise State beat a ranked team at home in November. They beat Utah State, who hadn’t lost since their opening game would-be upset to Michigan State. Similar to two weeks ago, it was a hard-fought battle that was clearly a match between two very good teams. For this game anyway, the Broncos emerged on top.

McDonald leads Warriors over Aztecs.

Cole McDonald was benched in the 4th quarter of last week’s come from behind win. Maybe it was the spark he needed. He certainly looked more like the September version of himself as Hawaii overtook San Diego State on the road in overtime. He finished with 452 passing yards and three TDs. It capped off a good regular season for the Warriors and gives them momentum with a two game winning streak heading into their bowl game.

Miserable Spartan’s season finally ends.

They stuck with the Bulldogs for a half, but then Fresno State woke up and turned this one into a laugher. It was that kind of season for San Jose State; a few bright spots scattered around lots of rough play. It’s over on the field for this season but the long hard work still remains if the Spartans want to take a step forward.
