Armani Rogers gets first-team snaps in UNLV practice

After a mid-season injury sidelined him for weeks, UNLV quarterback Armani Rogers was splitting first-team snaps with Max Gilliam at the Rebels’ Wednesday practice. It’s an awkward position to be in, considering Gilliam just led the Rebels to one of the bigger wins they've had in the last forever. Rogers is a menace running the ball and figures to give a poor Hawaii defense all they can handle this Saturday.

Column: Aggies have handled potential distractions well

With Fresno State losing at Boise State this past Friday, the Utah State Aggies jumped up high in the AP and coaches polls and, more importantly, debuted at #23 in the College Football Playoff Poll, the second highest Group of 5 team in the poll behind UCF. The Aggies are the new poster boy for the Mountain West in their pursuit of New Years 6 glory, which could make it easy for the team to become distracted. That is not a problem for the Aggies as they prep for what should be a blood bath in Ft. Collins this weekend.

Wyoming All-American Andrew Wingard was disappointed coaches in Colorado let him slip away

This might be the most eye-opening article of the week, as Brent Briggeman breaks down how badly the in-state Colorado State schools missed on Wyoming safety Andrew Wingard. Wingard has been an All-Conference, even All-American performer in his career at Wyoming, but was largely ignored as a high school recruit by all top programs, and even smaller ones like Colorado, Air Force, and Colorado State. Time flies and it’s Senior Day on Saturday for Wingard and the Pokes. Look for Wingard to make an impact playing football on Sunday’s.

For Bulldogs, close and late is not the place to be against San Diego State

San Diego State has played eight consecutive football games that could have been decided by eight points or less. A remarkable stat. This week, however, the Aztecs face an uphill battle to keep it that close vs. Fresno State, who’s been unbreakable at home ever since Jeff Tedford took the job. After the Bulldogs lost to Boise State this past Friday, it appeared the Bulldogs-Aztecs game might be for the West Division title. Unfortunately, the Aztecs ruined that by losing to UNLV. While the stakes aren’t what we hoped they would be, it’ll be interesting to see how both teams bounce back from losses. Dogs-Aztecs kick off at 7:30 pm PT on Saturday on CBS Sports Network.
