MWC Week Eleven Outcomes & Game of the Week

How it all played out.

NCAA Football: UNLV at San Diego State
The biggest upset of the season in conference play occurred in San Diego last weekend.
Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Here are the MWC results from Week Eleven:

Game 1 - Fresno State 17, Boise State 24

Game 2 - New Mexico 24, Air Force 42

Game 3 - San Jose State 24, Utah State 62

Game 4 - UNLV 27, San Diego State 24

Game 5 - Colorado State 10, Nevada 49

Game of the Week - UNLV at San Diego State

My predicted Game of the Week was Fresno State at Boise State. That game delivered and deserves to be recognized as another good game played between these two schools.

That said, UNLV pulled off the upset of the season (in conference play) by going to San Diego and beating the Aztecs. Every season an upset occurs in conference play, and I doubt any will end up being bigger than this one for the Mountain West this season. UNLV was/is the worst team in the conference. They had not won a conference game prior to this game. UNLV lost to San Jose State, giving the Spartans a win on the season. That Rebels team went to San Diego and beat the Aztecs, doing so as 18 point underdogs.

Lastly, in the weekly poll, the final vote was that UNLV/San Diego State would be the game of the week, receiving 36 votes to 35 votes for Fresno State/Boise State. I’m not sure if it was a push from a bunch of UNLV fans or (much more likely) San Diego State fans, but that was the final vote. In the end, those voters were right. I’m not sure that the voters were right in the way that they expected. UNLV over San Diego State was the upset of the season and deserves to be the Game of the Week.

Let us know which game you thought was the Game of the Week in Week Eleven.
