More football talk.

NCAA Football: Navy at Air Force Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Tuesday and we have some links for you on MWC football coverage from this weekend. Take a look at the set we compiled for today.

Falcons blow Midshipmen out of the water.

Donald Hammond III got the start at QB for Air Force and no one questioned that move. He amassed over 200 total yards (combined passing and rushing) and contributed to other big plays setting up pitches to RBs. This was all after he learned he would be starting right after the team walk-through.

Spartans finding new ways to lose.

All season long, San Jose State has been skilled at losing in a variety of ways. Losing to a FCS team, getting destroyed by one PAC team, and getting a “moral victory in another”. This one is best described as snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. They scored 30 in the 3rd quarter, coming back from tailing 28-0 at half-time to take the lead, but ended with the another loss.

Bulldogs looked prime to end up in MWC Championship game again.

The game started out a bit slow, but Fresno State showed they were the better team by the time is was all said and done. Their defense shut down the strong Nevada attack, although one that was missing starting QB Ty Gangi. In case you didn’t know, the Bulldog defense is very good and the offense is nothing to scoff at either (although their full potential wasn’t on display in this game).

Rams defense gets on same page, gets a win.

It hasn’t been an easy season for Colorado State. It definitely hasn’t been fun much of the time. But a win is a win, even one that saw they blow a 28-0 lead and had to regroup to come away with the victory. A big part of that was the defense getting on the same page and trusting each other during the game, even when things weren’t going their way.
