Less than 24 hours from now the 3-1 San Diego State Aztec’s will face the toughest challenge they have left on their schedule this season in the form of a 3-1 Boise State team in Boise. Coming off of a bye week the Aztec’s have had two full weeks to recover and prepare for this game, here is a quick look at how they should match up at kickoff on Saturday.
On Offense: With Juwan Washington our for several weeks the offense could look vastly different than one we have seen from SDSU in a while. The offensive line has looked string all season and Chase Jasmin has had moments of greatness is it’s far from a full blown panic situation. The bigger concern will come if Boise gets up early with big passes and the Aztecs need to score fast. The Boise defense is insanely fast and athletic, with several NFL potential players to look out for including Jabril Frazier to be concerned about, this defense will be a tough test to score more than 21 on.
On Defense: Brett Rypien is one of the most prolific passers in college football bar none, he has gone for over 300 yards every game this season and that should be a concern. The SDSU secondary has been its weakest point this season and there is no reason to think the gameplay for Boise wont include a healthy dose of downfield pass attempts. The pressure backfield pressure from the front seven will be the key to keeping Rypien off balance easy and not allowing him to get in a groove.
