Hawaii football’s Jahlani Tavai expected to miss Fresno State game
The Warriors will be without their star linebacker vs. the Fresno State Bulldogs this Saturday in the San Joaquin Valley. It’s a blow to the defense, but Hawaii’s primary concern will be trying to score against Fresno State. You know, at all. Hawaii and Fresno State play on ESPN2 late on Saturday.
Injury to Air Force’s Ronald Cleveland opens unexpected opportunity
Star do-it-all Air Force wide receiver Ronald Cleveland, who was playing spectacularly this season, sustained an unspecified injury that left him needing crutches after the UNLV game. With him likely to be sidelined, Andrew Smith will step into his role. While filling Cleveland’s role is a tall task, Smith does possess the speed required to execute his job on Saturday. The Falcons play the Boise State Broncos on CBS Sports Network this Saturday.
Tarver has excelled at wideout for USU
The Aggies have been flying on high on offense against teams not named Wyoming, and senior wide receiver Ron’quavion Tarver is playing a role in that success. Second on the team in receiving yards with 305, only trailing teammate Jalen Greene, the 6’3” 215 lbs target has been a menace for opposing defenses this season. The Aggies take on the New Mexico Lobos this Saturday.
Against Hawaii, Bulldogs’ trouble spot is the slot and matchup with John Ursua
The Bulldogs are in the midst of an avalanche of respect coming their way. With homecoming up next for Fresno State, the Hawaii Warriors are the next task up for the vaunted Bulldogs defense. Fresno safety Mike Bell notes that star wide receiver John Ursua is a player the defense will need to follow closely. Ursua has over 1000 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on the season. Can Hawaii finally put a dent in this seemingly invincible defense?
