Lobo’s Standout Linebacker, CSU’s Near Disaster, Nevada Rising to the Occasion, and UNLV Looking to Rebound

It’s Friday and it’s time to get caught up on the news from around the MWC!

LB Epting a terror harassing QBs for Lobos

Coming off of a huge win last weekend against UNLV, the Lobos are riding high. Probably no player on their roster is quite as happy as UNM OLB Rhashaun Epting. A standout defensive player for UNM so far this season, it’s hard to believe he was contemplating transferring from Albuquerque. But his decision to stay has payed off so far this season as he is currently ranked 8th in the nation in sacks with 5 and a half.

CSU football puts its best and worst on full display in win at San Jose State

It was truly a tale of two games this past weekend in the contest that pitted CSU against SJSU. The Spartans stormed back in the third quarter with 30 unanswered points and almost pulled off the impossible comeback. In an up and down season for Colorado, it would’ve come as no surprise to see them drop this game to San Jose. But the Rams were able to close out the game and gain another win in what as been challenging season for the Rams.

For Wolf Pack football, facing teams like Boise State is ‘why you play

The Wolf Pack is ready for Boise this weekend. Nevada are meeting the Broncos for the 43rd in their history this weekend and Nevada is looking to shake off a disappointing loss 21-3 to Fresno State. The players are embracing the challenge and looking to get back in the win column.

Uninspired UNLV looks to regroup against Utah State

There are a lot of words you could describe UNLV performance last week against UNM. But when head coach Tony Sanchez stepped to the podium, he was speechless when it came to describing his team’s effort. The Rebels were on the other side of the biggest blowout in UNM’s history. It doesn’t get any easier for them, as 4 of their final 7 games will be played on the road. The Rebels need to right the ship in a hurry.
