The hierarchy of the Mountain West has pressed teams to schedule up in basketball, and if not a fine could be in the works. Well, the New Mexico Lobos have upped their non-conference schedule and have a home-and-home against the Colorado Buffaloes, per The Albuquerque Journal.
The series begins in Boulder, Colorado, in the 2017-18 season and then the Lobos would host the Buffaloes in the 2018-19 season at
Wise Pie Arena The Pit.
Colorado has been a better basketball team since the turn of the decade with five seasons of 20 or more wins with 16 wins so far this year and four NCAA Tournament berths. That also encompasses two conferences in the Big 12 and Pac-12 for the Buffaloes.
The Lobos have been upping their non-conference schedule as they renewed their series between Arizona for a home-and-home and a respectable UTEP team as well.
Thess upcoming series are an effort to boost their RPI and hopefully in return help the Lobos be in contention for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid.
