Tony Sanchez didn’t have to look far to find a defensive gem to add to his 2017 recruiting class.
Sanchez returned to his old stomping grounds, and added 6’0” 235 lbs, inside linebacker Farrell Hester from Bishop Gorman High School. If you’re a Las Vegan you know this already, if you’re not, perhaps you don’t. Sanchez jumped from Bishop Gorman to UNLV, after winning six consecutive state titles.
For Rebel football fans, this is what has always been envisioned. Sanchez being able to tap into that wealth of high school talent that was absolutely, positively not recruited by Bishop Gorman.
Hester is going to be a difference maker for the Rebels. He’s a 3-star OLB who loves Las Vegas and never really explored going to school elsewhere. He’s been a critical piece for Bishop Gorman defenses for a few seasons now, as the Gaels haven’t stopped winning state titles. The number is now at eight straight. Hester is the all-time leading tackler in BGHS history.

Yikes. That’s the kind of player that Rebels defensive coordinator Kent Baer needs. Hester is the highest rated defensive player in UNLV’s 2017 class according to 247Sports.
