Recruiting Roundup 10-2

Hawaii hosts a plethora of visitors on the island

NCAA Football: Hawaii Bowl-Hawaii at Middle Tennessee Marco Garcia-USA TODAY Sports

Recruits seemed to be on the move this weekend, with a large number of players visiting across the Mountain West. Hawaii and Wyoming appear to have the most known visitors at this time and Mountain West Connection caught up with as many as possible to hear how their weekends went. Keep checking back as we will be updating over the next few days.

Visits to the Island:

  • QB commit Jeremy Moussa: “It went great it was a lot of fun to get back out there and now I’m excited to get started there in a couple months. I’ll be graduating early and enrolling for spring semester. My goal is to win the job and I think I’m capable of it. We are putting a good class together and one of the guys on the visit may be close to committing.”
  • Michael Washington: “It was great, I had a lot of fun! It's an huge family out there . When I look at a school I want to look at how people respond the the football players . And it was a very positive vibe going on out there.”
  • Matt Lawson: “Being in Hawaii was fantastic. It had this exotic atmosphere that I never felt before. The main things that stood out to me were the coaches & the team. I personally loved all the staff & the team itself felt like united. The coaches had a calm but serious feel to them. The team were all like brothers to one another. Overrall both made a good impression on me & my pops. The main coaches recruiting me right now at Hawaii are Coach Yoro, & Coach Legi”
  • Uluaki Katoanga: “The visit was great, I loved it out there. The main thing I loved was how the community was so involved with and everyone always showed their love towards the football team. Which is one of the factors I look for when thinking about what school I want to go to. Also another thing that I considered a highlight for me was just the diversity of the team and how no matter where you came from, everyone showed their love and considered you family. Lastly the thing that caught me was just how Coach Rolovich was so involved with the players and knew what was going on with everybody and also how he just made himself outside of practice feel like he was another player and anyone could just come up and talk to him about anything. Pretty much coach Rolo just kinda of talked about how school was going and then after that he just was telling me about what he sees in me and how I could come in and impact the program right away. They envision me playing the middle linebacker and sometimes outside linebacker on different formations but Coach Rolo just said the aggressiveness and passion I have for the game could really make a big impact on the defense.”

Recaps from Wyoming Visitors:

  • Miguel Fulgencio: “I loved everything about Wyoming! I like the new facility they are getting, it looks great! I really enjoyed the game and hanging out with the other guys. I also loved all the coaches there. They're really good people that's for sure!! Coach Bath has been recruiting me a lot and all the coaches treated me well! And I just left like I was at home.”
  • Joseph Bonds: “I loved seeing so many players from the Chicago area like me. It was like a home away from home. I believe they recruit this area so well because the coaches are so up front and truthful with you to begin with. You can feel the family atmosphere out in Wyoming and that might be a reason so many athletes from Illinois go there. I fell in love with the smaller classrooms also. Coach Dickert is my main recruiter and we talked about how they would plan to use me as a LB.”
  • TE commit Jackson Marcotte: “It was awesome to be there for a game. It was definitely a nice reassurance of my decision. My favorite part was seeing the Wyoming fans in action. I can't wait to play in front of them for the next 4 years. I got to have great conversations with a lot of coaches I didn't know super well yet. That was nice. We talked about family, school, and football, everything. When I got to the game they got me with the other guys on pretty quick and I started trying to recruit them. Just telling them why I chose Wyoming and why it's such a great place.”
