The Spartans lost to the Rams 81-72 at Moby Arena on Wednesday night.
San Jose State was off to an aggressive start as Isaac Thornton hit two free throws coming out of the game’s first break. The Spartans trailed the Rams by four at 15:50 of the first half.
The Spartans kept their pace, thanks to Terrell Brown’s speed, trailing the Rams by three at 11:42.
SJSU took their first lead of the game, 25-24, after Jalen James made a statement with two three-pointers.
But the lead was short-lived as Emmanuel Omogbo led the Rams with 12 points while James led the Spartans with eight. San Jose State trailed Colorado State 33-29 at halftime.
The Spartans fell behind and never recovered.
Brandon Clarke drove to the basket for a dunk, but San Jose State continued to trail the Rams 40-34 at 15:47 of the second half. Clarke finished with his fourth 20 point effort in five games as the Spartans dropped their second straight with a 81-72 to the Rams in Fort Collins.
