While all the focus was on the upcoming evening tilt between UNLV’s football team and Jackson State, the UNLV men’s basketball team received great news.
4 star, 6’8” forward, Troy Baxter announced his commitment to the Runnin’ Rebels via Twitter:

Baxter averaged 17 points per game as a senior at Oldsmar Christian High School, and was rated in ESPN’s top 100.
This is a huge get for coach Menzies and his Runnin’ Rebels. Players of Baxter’s caliber and ranking are rarely available this late in the game.
Baxter was originally signed with USF but was granted his release earlier this summer. He had UNLV, ASU and UCLA listed in his top three and had planned to visit ASU on Friday.
He becomes highest rated recruit that Marvelous Marvin has snagged in his short time at UNLV and he will fill the last open scholarship that Menzies has available.
Here’s Baxter’s mix tape.
