Well, now we have this coming out of CBS4 in Denver.

CBS4 in Denver is also reporting that Air Force in still in the running:
The only other school from the Mountain West Conference still in the discussion is the Air Force Academy, and the Falcons would be considered as a “football only” member.
The 20ish schools that were involved in the Big 12 process have signed non-disclosure agreements which is why news has been light, but that changed from last night.
As of today, there is this report from CBS 4, then there is ECU saying they have withdrawn from consideration and Jason Williams from the Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that the Bearcats made the “cut.”
Then there is Bill Embody of Scout.com who is reporting that the Mustangs are still being considered for the Big 12.

We have all known that news about the Big 12 is extremely fluid so it should not come as much of a surprise that this news pops that Colorado State is in the mix.
The teams that are being mentioned are the handful of schools that have been considered from the beginning. So, sorry to UNLV, New Mexico, East Carolina, Arkansas State and others because they never really had a chance, but they had to try and show their fanbase they are trying to move up.
Big 12 expansion = ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
