Top 50 Mountain West players: No. 47 is Kenny Potter, SJSU, QB

Kenny Potter is one of a few quarterbacks on our top 50 list.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The 2016 version of the Mountain West Connection top 50 football players countdown is finally here and the 47th player is San Jose State quarterback Kenny Potter.

There are not a lot of quarterbacks on this list and to give an early hint there are just three others who made the cut within the top 50. Going for Potter is his strong arm and ability to throw into a garbage can from the top of Spartan Stadium.

The Mountain West is not the home off too many pass-happy offenses this year, and the Spartans may not be that but Potter has the ability to lead San Jose State to a bowl game. He completes over two-thirds of his passes and last year completed 15 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. Potter also was third in total passing yards for the conference last year in just 11 games. His main issue is to be more consistent; he threw for 336 yards against Boise State but then 52 yards against Air Force.

There is also no Joe Gray behind him battling for playing time as Potter took over the full time job early last year, and being the man should lead to a boost in confidence and numbers in 2016.

Here are the staff picks and composite rankings.
