Head coach Nick Rolovich announced his starting quarterback via twitter.

Just last week, the Hawaii Warriors football team was looking at four quarterbacks who might play in the season opener against Cal. Head coach Nick Rolovich who is amazing at Twitter decided to announce via the social media platform that Ikaika Woolsey will be the starting quarterback.

Woosley was named a captain but Rolovich did not say that was meant to give him an edge to be the starting quarterback.

In last week’s scrimmage, the other quarterbacks competing were Aaron Zwahlen who went 9-of-14 for 128 yards, and had a scoring touchdown pass; Dru Brown was 12-of-17 for 130 yards in the scrimmage; then the speedy Cole Brownholtz was 4-of-6 for 26 yards.

Naming Woosley the starter makes the most sense as he has experience starting at the FBS level with 37 games under his belt and well over double-digit starts. Comparing that to the rest of the group it is no contest in that area.

With Woosley now named the started that allows him to have just about a week’s worth of practices working exclusive with the first team leading up to their season opener vs. Cal on Friday Aug. 26 in Sydney, Australia.
