Tapia is the Colorado prep leader in career sacks in 39, which he set in last year’s Class 4A state championship. He took the record from former Denver South, University of Miami (FL) and current Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell, who had 38 sacks in his prep career. In his junior year, Tapia had 157 tackles (82 solo), 26.5 tackles for loss, and 15.5 sacks.
Corte Tapia is 6 foot 2, 220 pound linebacker who could end up either inside or outside for the Rams. He held offers from Air Force, Montana, Northern Colorado, North Dakota, and Wyoming. He becomes the second linebacker of the 2017 class, joining Connor Kaminski of Florida, who committed the Rams in May.
Tapia has room on his frame to fill out more and could end up being a gem in the 2017 class.
