Top 100-Rated 2017 Shooting Guard Jordan Schakel Commits to San Diego State

Bishop Montgomery High 4-star prospect elects to play basketball for SDSU over parents’ alma mater USC

Jordan Schakel from Torrance, CA is one of the West Coast's top shooters. The 6'6" 190-pound shooting guard who attends Bishop Montgomery High School received a number of offers- including ones from USC, Stanford, Rice and Cal- has verbally committed to San Diego State for the 2017-18 season.

The four-star shooting guard had this to say about San Diego State: "The coach has built a legacy there. They really develop their players and get them better. The atmosphere is amazing."

Even more amazing, Schakel is a USC legacy, with both of his parents graduating from the university. His mother is former USC All-American volleyball player Dr. Stefanie Bodison. His parents allowed him to make his own decision, and in the end he followed his heart after meeting with Coach Steve Fisher and the SDSU coaching staff.

Scout reports indicate that Jordan Schakel has a great stroke and is a serious catch-and-shoot 3-point threat. He is a good mid-range shooter, and a solid passer. Schakel is said to have admired San Diego State's "position-less" play versatility, along with the university's winning record.
