The New Mexico Lobos had one of their best seasons in year's when Bob Davie led them their first bowl game since 2007. The Lobos were one win away from winning the Mountain Division and playing in the conference title game.
Taking that next step will be difficult as New Mexico lost running back Jhurell Pressley and their quarterback situation is still not excellent with Lamar Jordan or Austin Apodaca.
A bowl game is very possible but if the Lobos want to take the next step they need their defense -- which returns most of their talent from last year -- to take another leap similar to what they did from 2014 to 2015.
Keys for the Lobos are to find a better way to use the quarterback position, find another running back to help replace the production lost by Pressley and the defense to take a step forward. If those things happen then the Lobos should at the very least going to a bowl game.
