2016 San Jose State football: Campus Insiders gives predictions for the Spartans

Pete Fiutak from Campus Insiders gives his predictions about how the 2016 Spartans will fare.

With college baseball winding down with the College World Series just a week away, that leads the way to shift gears towards the upcoming football season, which is less than 100 days until the opening night on Thursday, September 1st. I could not be more excited. To add to that excitement, Campus Insiders is taking a look ahead at their previews, and Pete Fiutak gives his prediction on what the Spartans will do this season.

Some quick thoughts:

-He has Utah as his big matchup, which only makes sense Utah is a Power 5 opponent and coming off of a 10-3 season in 2015. This game comes after San Jose plays against Tulsa and Portland State. I wouldn't write off the Spartans in this game as it will be early in the season and it is a home game.

-Pete's prediction has the Spartans going just 4-8 and missing a bowl game. I'm not sure I exactly agree with a 4-8 record despite the Spartans losing their top playmaker in Tyler Ervin. With the departure of Joe Gray, it is Kenny Potter's team to lead going in to 2016. With the situation at quarterback seemingly settled (it's still June, so who knows what will happen in fall camp), Caragher will know the strengths/weaknesses of his quarterback to build his offense around. The Spartans do return 3 of their top 4 leading receivers from 2015. As we sit here in June, I am going to talk myself into the Spartans going 6-6 and getting another opportunity to go to a bowl.
