It is not yet June 1 but we have over/under win totals thanks to Vegas Insiders, and they produced totals for every single team. So, no more picking and choosing what teams get lines.
Based on these early lines, Vegas Insider predicts that Boise State will have the most success with a win total at an astonishing 10.5 games. The Broncos should be better this year and the favorite to win the Mountain Division, but 10.5 seems extremely high yet if you look at their schedule predicting the Broncos to win 11 games could be seen as a smart bet.
Speaking of smart bets, not sure why San Diego State's win total is only 8.5. They are in the weaker West Division and miss three of the better teams from the Mountain by not playing Boise State, Air Force or New Mexico.
Their non-conference schedule is not daunting either by hosting Cal, playing at South Alabama and hosting New Hampshire out of the FCS.
Run as fast as you can and take San Diego State and the over at nine wins because it is hard to see the Aztecs losing four games on their upcoming schedule.
On the other end of the spectrum for the toughest call would be New Mexico. Their win total is seven meaning you need to take eight or six to win this wage. The Lobos early schedule is favorable against South Dakota, New Mexico State, even going to Rutgers is very winnable and then their final non-conference game is Louisiana-Monroe.
That should be three or four wins but in league play they go on the road to face Colorado State, Utah State and face Air Force in Dallas. Those three games are toss ups, and then the also play Boise State at home.
The Lobos are likely to make a bowl game but picking them to win six or eight games is probably the toughest decision.
A case could be made for Hawaii at 2.5 wins as being the toughest decision on picking two or three wins.
Based on these over/under odds it is conceivable to believe that Vegas Insiders can see as many as nine teams to become bowl eligible. That obviously will not happen but the numbers they present cane make the case for the conference to be a balance and competitive league.
