Mountain West NBA Mock Draft Update: Zimmerman, McCaw see stock rise

The dust has settled on NBA Draft decisions, so it's time to start digging into the latest of the NBA Mock Draft universe.

Troy Babbitt-USA TODAY Sports

At last, we know which college hoopers are staying in school or going pro. After Wednesday's NBA Draft declaration deadline, the list of future NBA prospects for this year's NBA Draft is now set. UNLV shooting guard Patrick McCaw (31st in DraftExpress' top 100 list), UNLV center Stephen Zimmerman (35th), UNLV small forward Derrick Jones (72nd) and Boise State power forward James Webb III (75th) will represent the Mountain West. Here's a look at the latest mock drafts:

CBS Sports (Gary Parrish) 5/26

27) Toronto Raptors - Stephen Zimmerman, C, UNLV

"Zimmerman's freshman season was limited by injury. But he still nearly averaged a double-double in the Mountain West Conference, and he remains a skilled 7-footer who was a consensus top-10 high school recruit. So, late in the first round, he's worth a flyer."

NBA.com (Scott Howard-Cooper) 5/26

25) Los Angeles Clippers - Stephen Zimmerman, C, UNLV

"Size plus the ability to play in transition plus a nice touch from the perimeter plus the potential to defend both big-man spots. It's easy to see Zimmerman moving back up, after previously being in the lottery mix. The question is whether he will convince front offices he can play a physical style as well, at least on defense and go after contact rather than rely entirely on finesse. It didn't help that his freshman season was dotted by nagging injuries, illness and a coaching change."

Basketball Insiders (Alex Kennedy) 5/25

26) Philadelphia 76ers - Patrick McCaw, SG, UNLV

Bleacher Report (Timothy Rapp) 5/24

27) Toronto Raptors - Patrick McCaw, SG, UNLV

28) Phoenix Suns - Stephen Zimmerman, C, UNLV

Yahoo Sports (Isaacson) 5/18

27) Toronto Raptors - Stephen Zimmerman, C, UNLV

"While the Raptors are set in the middle next year with the combination of Jonas Valanciunas and Bismack Biyombo, they can still use a big man who can stretch the floor a bit with his shooting and passing ability. Zimmerman’s freshman season was a disappointment in some ways, but there is a lot of potential on both ends of the floor with size and skill. He will need to work on becoming a bit more aggressive and he should be a better rebounder for his size, but some playing time in the D-League should help."

30) Golden State Warriors - Patrick McCaw, SG, UNLV

"As the league’s dominant franchise right now, the Warriors can look to the future a bit when drafting in this last spot. They got Kevon Looney here last year, and now they can look for some potential help on the wing in the athletic McCaw. While maddening to watch at times, McCaw showed potential as a shooter, passer, and slasher, but his decision-making process seemed a bit of whack. A great candidate for Santa Cruz to turn into a pro-ready player."

NBA Draft Net 5/18

20) Indiana Pacers - Stephen Zimmerman, C, UNLV

23) Atlanta Hawks - Patrick McCaw, SG, UNLV

54) Atlanta Hawks - James Webb III, PF, Boise State

Fox Sports (Aaron Torres) 5/18

26) Philadelphia 76ers - Patrick McCaw, SG, UNLV

"The 76ers are back on the clock, and with new management it's really difficult to project exactly what they'll do with all these picks. The hunch here is that after targeting scoring with Beasley, they go with the more well-rounded backcourt player in McCaw. The former UNLV product may be the best perimeter defender in the draft, after averaging 2.5 steals to go along with just under 15 points per game in Vegas last season."

30) Golden State Warriors - Stephen Zimmerman, C, UNLV

"Zimmerman saw his draft stock tumble throughout his one season at UNLV, but there's a reason that he was projected as a first-rounder prior to his college days. His size and athleticism will be a perfect addition to Golden State's front court at a time when they need it. Marreese Speights will be a free agent this offseason, and Andrew Bogut after next year."

The 2016 NBA Draft will take place in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 26th.
