Throughout Parker U’u's time at San Diego State he was known as the bench player with the good hair. When on the floor, U’u is a 6-foot-5 guard who walked-on to San Diego State after transferring from Hartford. U'u played significant minutes at Hartford, but decided to come back to the west coast. Ultimately Steve Fisher's reputation won U'u over knowingly he would be on the bench, with one the NCAA's greatest coaches.
Steve Fisher never promised U'u playing time, but his track record with walk-ons like Aqeel Quinn gave U’u a long shot at playing time. At San Diego State, U’u never played more than 8 minutes, peaking in 2015 against San Diego Christian.
It also didn’t help U'u that San Diego State is a nationally recognized program compared to Hartford with high level guards commanding playing time. Moreover, U'u tore his ACL during the 2014-2015 season, almost effectively hindering him from advancing further.
U’u disclosed his intentions to graduate from San Diego State and play his final year of eligibility elsewhere.
