UNLV's Ben Carter possibly transferring from Rebels?

The number is getting too high to count for who will be playing for UNLV next year.

UNLV's 2016-17 roster will look completely different under Chris Beard's first look and there is another player that could possibly be leaving the program is forward Ben Carter.

Rothstein's tweet is not crystal clear that Carter is going to leave the program, but just that it is a possibility he is eligible to leave and not have to sit out a year since he is on track to graduate.

He is not sure what will do next and his father, Mike Carter, had a meeting with new head coach Chris Beard.

"We had a great meeting with him," Mike Carter told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "Ben doesn't know what he wants to do. He wants to win. Coach Beard is all about winning."

Carter also is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in late January.

At this point it would be more surprising if Carter were to stay with UNLV since nearly half of the opening day roster is no longer on the team. If Carter is to be included then there are just four total players who are on the current UNLV roster and be back next year: Jalen Poyser, Tyrell Green and Austin Starr.

There are others who declared for the NBA Draft and could return because they did not hire an agent. That would increase to potentially include St. John's transfer Chris Obekpa, Patrick McCaw but he is actively looking for an agent and then also Derrick Jones.

Even if all three come back that leaves UNLV with only five current players from this past seasons teams. New head coach Chris Beard has his work cut out for him.
