Nevada Basketball: Wolf Pack cruises to victory over Eastern Washington

The Wolf Pack used a strong second half to defeat the Eastern Washington Eagles 85-70 in the in the quarterfinals of the CBI tournament.

The Nevada Wolf Pack were down 45-43 to the Eastern Washington Eagles at beginning of the second half of tonight's game. But the Wolf Pack went on a 13-0 scoring run to give Nevada a 56-45 lead early in the second half. When the Eagles cut the Wolf Pack lead to 62-57, the Wolf Pack went on an 11-0 scoring run to pull away from Eastern Washington and secured an 85-70 victory over the Eagles in the quarterfinals of the CBI Tournament.

Nevada shot 51 percent from the field in the first half but Eastern Washington shot 53 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three-point line in the first half. But in the second half, the Wolf Pack's defense clamped down on the Eagles as they held them to 29 percent shooting from the field in the second half.

The Wolf Pack got some big contributions from Tyron Criswell and Cameron Oliver tonight. Criswell scored a career best 32 points while grabbing eight rebounds and four assists. Oliver had a career night of his own scoring 28 points while grabbing 14 rebounds and four blocks. As a team, the Wolf Pack shot 50 percent from the field and 34 percent from the three-point in tonight's win.

With the win, Nevada improves their record to 21-13 and will advance to play the Vermont Catamounts in the CBI semifinals on Wednesday night. The winner of this game will advance to play in the best-of-three championship series of the CBI Tournament. Tip off for this game is at 7pm at the Lawlor Events Center.
