UNLV Commit Christian Vital Opens Up Recruitment

Without signing a letter of intent, former UNLV recruit Christian Vital will open up his recruitment

Yesterday UNLV experienced one of the pitfalls of having a program in flux.  Word came across from the Las Vegas Review Journal from writer Mark Anderson that former prep guard, Christian Vital, who had signed a scholarship letter to UNLV for the upcoming season has opened up his recruitment.

As Anderson reports, he did not sign a letter of intent which provides him the opportunity to take this action.  According to Scouts.com, he had received offers from other schools such as Dayton, Boston College, SMU, and VCU.  Considered a three star prospect, Vital would have provided another guard presence on a team already heavy on guard play.

However, his decision exemplifies the kinds of unpredictable issues that UNLV Basketball may face as they enter into a precarious off season.  Their lack of a stated head coach may cause some behind the scenes whispers and some significant decisions being made by players and their families.

The Rebel basketball program would do well to make a coaching decision soon since this, at least from the outside looking in, seems directly correlated to the unusual and ambiguous position UNLV is in right now.
