Freddy Holly appears to be the prize of the Hawaii 2016 recruiting class. The California native is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals, Scout, 247Sports and ESPN. He is the only recruit in the 2016 class that has a three-star grade across the board between the four major databases.
While attending Norte Vista High School in Riverside, California, he earned first-team all-CIF Southern Section eastern honors the past three years. In his senior season, he was named to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State second team.
Holly is expected to come into to program and contribute immediately. However, he will have tough competition from returning starter Paul Harris and backup Diocemy St. Juste.
Arizona State had his commitment early on but that fell through. In the end, Holly was also offered scholarships by Colorado State, San Diego State, San Jose State and Louisville.

In his years before UH: Holly finished his high school career with a school record of 5,752 yards and 69 touchdowns.
As a senior, he ran for 2,002 yards on 219 carries with 24 touchdowns. His junior season was even better with 2,593 yards and an astonishing 31 TDs.
His scouting report: Holly is a back with a well-rounded skillset. He has good size and speed for the position. He shows good explosiveness and vision on the field. Holly should be a very good back at the FBS level.
