2016 San Jose State football recruiting: Cam Smith commits to the Spartans

Spartans land a receiver, or maybe a defensive back, out of Corona, California.

Quick Bio

On a day where the Spartans landed four commits, the first was a wide receiver from Corona, California, Cam Smith. Smith, after being offered a scholarship on June 15th, knew that he would be a Spartan.

Per Scout:

"As soon as they offered the scholarship, I said I was going to commit right on the spot," Smith said

Although he is listed as a cornerback, he has played almost his entire career at the wide receiver position. He was offered the scholarship as a defensive back, however. Expect for him to more than likely play defense for the Spartans and with their recent success of having a great defensive backfield and sending some to the NFL, sticking to defense might be the best idea.
