2016 San Jose State football recruiting: QB Sam Allen commits to San Jose State

Spartans get its QB of the class in JUCO Sam Allen.

Quick Bio

Sam Allen is the lone quarterback of the 2016 class. Standing at a tall 6'3", Allen is a JUCO quarterback coming to San Jose from Victor Valley College. Allen is viewed as the perfect fit for Al Borges' offense. Allen primarily focuses his game on his passing ability, however, he can use his legs at the same time if the situation arises. Allen comes from a boarding school in Virginia that typically sends out a lot of recruits to FBS level schools each year. However, just before his senior season, Allen came down with mononucleosis, and thus was forced to miss his entire senior season. After having a multitude of junior colleges reach out to Allen, he decided to go to Victory Valley in southern California.

Allen tells Scout why he feels San Jose State is a perfect fit:

"It's been awesome," Allen said. "I can't think of a better quarterback coach and offensive coordinator. I would say he's at least one of the top guys out there to this day and probably has the most experience out of all of them. Coach Caragher took the time to come down and visit me, get to know me and talk to me. They recruited me so hard and so well and I had such a great chemistry with the coaches. When I went out there, it felt right. It felt like I was their guy and I was sold completely."
