On Thursday, UNLV will play host to the third ranked Kansas Jayhawks to close out their out of conference play. The Jayhawks will be the third ranked team UNLV hosts this season after previously going up against #5 Duke and #22 Oregon. Both of those matches ended in a Rebels’ loss, but they are hoping that the third time will be the charm.
Meanwhile, for Kansas, the team is currently on a 10 game winning streak after falling to #11 Indiana on opening night. With a 10-1 record, Kansas is also looking to keep pace with conference rival Baylor, who currently sits at #4 with a 11-0 record ( the two teams will meet February 1st).
When the two teams meetup on Thursday, the focus for UNLV will be making things difficult for freshman and senior guards Josh Jackson & Frank Mason III. During their win streak, both players have been terrific.
In addition to stopping the Jayhawks guard combo, the Rebels will also need to cut down on their own mistakes. In their win against Southern Illinois, UNLV turned the ball over 23 times but were able to still pull out the win. If they do this against Kansas, UNLV will be playing catch up all night.
The game starts at 6:00pm PT and will air on CBSSN.
