Air Force Recruits for 2017 Baseball

The 2017 roster finally complete.

Air Force Baseball Schedule for 2017

The Falcons’ roster had these freshmen listed for the 2017 season. As I’ve said before they are always late in mentioning recruits as they have to go through basic training before even looking at a ball field. I understand that and here they are.

Ashton Easley, OF, Marcus HS, Flower Mound, TX

Ashton must have redshirted as he graduated in 2015. I found nothing.

Cory Campbell, OF, North Forsyth HS, Cumming, GA

Cory hit .424 and 4 his senior year. He was his school’s region POY and made all-state in Georgia.

Bailey Ishler, RHP, State College HS, State College, PA

Bailey had a very good junior year (5-0 and 1.82) but his senior year was short so it’s hard to tell; the numbers just aren’t there.

Will Jones, LHP, Van Alstyne HS, Sherman, TX

Finally some stats. He was 7-0 and 1.33 in 42 IP with 58 strikeouts. That got him All-Texomaland Baseball Team POY.

Jeff Gerlica, RHP, Lincoln Park Academy, Port St. Lucie, FL

Jeff was 4-2 and 1.24 last season in 51 IP. He had 85 strikeouts which works out to about two an inning! That’ll make you sit up and take notice.

Andrew Voydat, IF, Longmont HS, Longmont, CO

Andrew hit .341 and 1 in 44 ABs. I didn’t understand why this is all I could find on him. Longmont is about nine miles from where I live and this state is high school sports crazy. No mention of all-county or all-league. More than a little surprising.

Josh Leaser, RHP, Coronado HS, Coronado, CA

He was 8-0 and 1.61 in 61 IP. The IP led the staff. He whiffed 72 in those innings which also led the staff and by quite a bit. Weird thing I found was that he made second team all-section in the San Diego area (baseball talent gold mine) as an infielder and not as a hurler.

Evan Floyd, RHP, Pensacola Catholic HS, Pensacola, FL

He was 8-2 and 0.90 in 62 IP in 2016. He had 82 strikeouts in those innings so I’m sure he caught a lot of scouts and recruiters’ attention. Yep, he did. He made second team Louisville Slugger AA. I think he’ll get a look on the mound.

Shawn Kelley, C, Sweeny HS, Sweeny, TX

Named to the Texas 4A all-state team as an honorable mention catcher.

Brian Brown, RHP, Palm Harbor HS, Clearwater, FL

He had an ok junior year but I couldn’t find 2016 stats. He must have done fairly well as he mad honorable mention all-county.

Morgan Harrison, RHP, All Saints Academy, Lakeland, FL

He was 3-5 and 3.79 in 48 IP and used primarily as a starter. He had 58 strikeouts (good) and 39 walks (not so good). I think these may be incomplete stats but he still needs to work on command.

Some good ones mixed in with this lot. Some names to watch are Evan Floyd, Shawn Kelley, and Jeff Gerlica. Josh Leaser and Cory Campbell are also two to keep your eyes on. Leaser comes from the San Diego area and I’m always high on good talent that comes from that area. How does Air Force get all these guys? Good stuff here.
