It is now officcial and the Wyoming Cowboys will be hosting the 2016 Mountain West Championship game agains the San Diego State Aztecs.

Even though Wyoming fell to New Mexico on Saturday they are still hosting, and part of that is due to San Diego State also losing on Saturday when they were beaten by Colorado State.

The Cowboys earned the right to host as they have the higher composite rankings amongst these computer formulas: Colley Matrix, Anderson & Hester, Billingsley and Wolfe.

This will be the second meeting between the Cowboys and Aztecs, which also was played in Laramie.

Wyoming beat San Diego State 34-33 in dramatic fashion. The Aztecs drove 99 yards with 67 seconds left to score a touchdown and instead of playing for overtime Rocky Long instructed San Diego State to go for the win, but their two-point play was not successful.

San Diego State is appearing in their second consecutive title game while Wyoming is in their first ever Mountain West title game.
