You remember the Aztecs, right?

Sunday, the 2016 preseason favorite to win the Mountain West Conference’s West Division returned to the AP and Coaches polls for the first time in seven weeks.

The San Diego State Aztecs throttled the Nevada Wolf Pack on Saturday in Reno, 46-16, and were modestly rewarded with a #24 ranking in the Associated Press poll and a #25 ranking in the Coaches poll.

Pollsters did not think much of Boise State’s impressive 52-16 win of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Despite clearly being one of the country’s top 15 teams, The AP slotted the Broncos two spots higher than last week at #22, while college football’s SIDs ranked BSU #23 before handing their poll off for signature. Boise State was #24 last week in the Coaches poll.

Next week the Broncos will host a UNLV Rebels team that just scored a 69-66 triple overtime win over a good Wyoming Cowboys team. The Cowboys will welcome San Diego State to Laramie on Saturday.
