UNLV target P.J. Washington commits to play for Kentucky

The five star guard out of Findlay Prep had Kentucky, UNC & UNLV in his final three.

Just hours after receiving a commitment from the number two overall center in the class of 2017, Nick Richards, John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats have struck again, landing a commitment from Findlay Prep power forward P.J. Washington.

This is disappointing news for Marvin Menzies and his Runnin’ Rebels, as Washington, rated as the 16th best player in the nation by ESPN, had the Rebels in his top three and took an official visit to the campus last weekend. A visit that apparently went very well according to P.J.’s father, Paul Washington, who is the coach at Findlay Prep.

While missing out on a player of Washington’s caliber is going to be a tough pill to swallow for the coaches and the fans, it’s very impressive that Menzies and his staff were able to even get to this point, given the dismal 2015-2016 season and the tumultuous off season the Runnin’ Rebels had.

Menzies and his staff will now shift all their recruiting focus on locking down a commitment from Bishop Gormon forward Charles O’Bannon Jr. He’s currently ranked as a 4 star recruit and is also considering UCLA, USC and North Carolina State.
