The Boise State Broncos picked up a major boost Monday morning with the announcement that Robert Gittens, a four-star wing from Tacoma, Washington has committed with BSU.
This is the first 2017 commit for head coach Leon Rice, who has now landed a 4* player in three of the last four seasons. Chandler Hutchison (junior wing) and Paris Austin (sophomore point guard) were the others.
Gittens also received offers from Hofstra, Portland and Washington. Boise recently lost out on a recruiting battle to Lorenzo Romar’s Huskies this spring after Carlos Johnson (a former UNLV commit) chose to head to Seattle and spurn Boise State.
There has been an abundance of high praise for Gittens, who has been said to have the talent and skill set to be a “high-major player” despite committing to a Mountain West school.
Left Coast Recruiting also had this to say about Gittens:
2017 Roberto Gittens might be one of the most slept on players in the nation #PT40

Gittens is currently a senior at Foss High School, the same school that former Boise State guard Dezmyn Trent attended prior to arriving to Boise. Trent was dismissed last August after an involvement in a drive-by shooting in Lakewood, Washington, approximately 10 miles from Tacoma.
